The 2020 American Supercross Championship enters its final stages and Australia’s Penrite Honda Racing team owner Yarrive Konsky’s dream is becoming a reality.

“My deepest fears are my greatest motivators. From a taxi drivers’ son to a team owner competing in America, about to complete our first season.  It’s surreal and to do it with an Australian rider and an Australian sponsor is something I am enormously proud of.’ Konsky remarks.

Whilst the team’s results have been respectable, both riders strongly believe they can improve on their highest finishes this year of 5th and 6th respectively. With three rounds remaining, Luke Clout and Mitchell Oldenburg aim to finish with at least one podium.

“I have constantly tried to improve each week.  The riders here are the best in the world and I am happy with the gains we have made during the pandemic break. I have taken advantage of the pause and worked on my weaknesses. I feel I have improved and the changes we have made to the bike have given me an increased level of confidence.  I definitely want to aim higher on my series best finish of 5th.” Clout said.

Mitchell Oldenburg’s season has been plagued by injuries but the tough Texan is ready to get back to racing.  Oldenburg has already proven he can race up front and has one goal upon his return to competition.

“I want to win; we have the bike to do it and my training has gone well.  My knee feels 100% and I am riding as well as I ever have so I will be lining up to try and win,” said Oldenburg

In their first full season, the team’s riders both sit inside the top ten in the Championship. Clout in 6th and Oldenburg in 10th.

Team Owner Yarrive Konsky knows both riders are capable of podium finishes and believes a top 5 overall in the championship is a reasonable objective.

“Both riders have proven they can run up front.  Both have finished inside the top 2 in heat races and both have proven they can run with other podium place getters. We set a goal of finishing inside the top 5 overall this year and we are on target to achieve that. A podium finish would be a dream but either way this whole journey has been a dream and I’m so appreciative of the opportunities our sponsors have provided. The American riders, fans and industry have given us overwhelming support and we look forward to seeing the season out.” Konsky concluded.

The team will compete tomorrow after 124 days away from the race track.
