Honda ready for return to racing

Honda Racing eager for the gate to drop on round 3 of the PRO MX Championship.

Honda Racing heads to Maitland, New South Wales for the much anticipated re-scheduled round three of the PRO MX Championship.

The team will be at Maitland Motorcycles this Saturday from 9.30am for meet and greets with fans, before heading to the track for racing on Sunday. The team will also debut an upgraded B-Double Race Transporter.

“We are excited for Honda fans to see the team’s new-look transporter, which highlights that famous “Honda Red”. We are proud of our racing heritage and what the Honda red globally symbolises: performance, quality, power and a winning spirit,” said General Manager of Sales – Tony Hinton.

“The team and Honda are committed to racing and we think the changes to the PRO MX Championship have been positive for the industry. It’s great to see Australian motocross on TV and we wish the team well this weekend,” added Hinton.

MX2 championship leader Kyle Webster is anxious to get back behind the gate; “We all live and train to race and I am excited to get back on track. I’ve had some great past results at Maitland, winning the last time we were there in 2019 so I hope to continue my form this weekend,” said Webster.

The team has kept themselves busy over the past eight weeks, racing state and local races. Brett Metcalfe has also used this time to recover from a crash that derailed him in the week leading up to round two.

“I crashed the week of Canberra and it set me back a lot. Since then, I have been working on my recovery but it’s hard to stay too still for long, I raced two state championships and Manjimup which was awesome. I enjoyed some great battles in Maitland in 2019 and look forward to getting out there this weekend,” said Metcalfe.

MX3 rider Ben Novak currently sits in third and hopes to improve on this position on a track he is familiar with.

“I like the track at Maitland, being from New South Wales I have ridden this track many times and I hope to achieve another podium this weekend,” said Novak.

Kirk Gibbs has been working hard since the last round of the Pro MX Championship and hopes the changes he has made to his program will be beneficial to his title chase.

“Its been full on since the last round, I have a new rider coach in Ford Dale who has close ties with the team and I feel we are making positive gains,” finished Gibbs.
