Round 8 of the MX Nationals took place in Moree, NSW. It had been 7 years since the championship was held there and unfortunately the event was cut short for medical reasons.

“Unfortunately being out in regional New South Wales this weekend, it’s not a very big hospital and their demand around the community increased today so they have unfortunately run out of beds,” Williams Event Management’s Kevin Williams commented.

The first race moto’s were run for several championship classes, and they counted for the overall round positions.

“It’s a disappointing way to finish a great day of racing; however the decision makers took the appropriate course of action based on the predicament they found themselves in” Team Director Yarrive Konsky commented.

Penrite Honda’s Brett Metcalfe rode well in the one and only race for the day to finish third following another fantastic start.

“The track was extremely challenging, it was shinny and dry in some sections and wet and tacky in others. I got a great jump of the line and was in 4thfor the early part of the race.  I took too long to find a rhythm.  In the middle of the moto I started matching the leaders pace but it was a case of too little too late for me and I had to settle for 3rd” Brett Metcalfe commented.

Metcalfe’s return to racing in the second half of the championship has been positive with 2,3,3,2,11,3 finishes respectively.
