Impressive Performance by Factory Honda in round 1 of the Sunshine State Championship!

The Factory Honda Australian team embarked on a 2500-kilometer journey to participate in round 1 of the Sunshine State Championship in Hervey Bay, Queensland, with the aim of further refining both their bike and team dynamics in preparation for the 2024 Australian Motocross Championship.

Kyle Webster of Team Boost Mobile Honda Racing continued to exhibit promising form in the MX1 class, securing the overall victory, while his teammate Wilson Todd, Terrafirma Honda claimed 3rd place.

Reflecting on his performance, Webster, who clinched victory in the final round of the 2023 Australian Motocross Championship, expressed confidence in his preparedness this season. He credited the collaborative efforts of HRC America and his in-house chassis team for the remarkable progress of his bike. “The bike’s performance in on another level. We’re really working well as a team, and the valuable insights from American Honda have contributed to our success. While I need to push harder from the start, I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made since last year,” commented Webster.

Meanwhile, Charli Cannon continued her dominance by triumphing in the Women’s class. The Team HRC Australia SCT Logistics rider also used the MX2 class to further develop the bike in preparation of round 1 of the WMX Championship. “Winning on Saturday among tough female competition was great. On Sunday, we decided to compete against the men as well, using it as an opportunity for development,” shared Cannon.

In the MX2 class, Alex Larwood emerged victorious in the final race, which helped him secure the second overall position for the day. The South Australian expressed satisfaction with the progress of this year’s plans, aiming to be fully prepared for the upcoming national championship. “I’m starting to feel more at ease, more like my old self. It’s all coming together,” noted Larwood.

Team manager Mark Sladek expressed contentment with the team’s progress while acknowledging the challenges ahead, particularly as they gear up to compete in four classes this season. He commended Noah Ferguson for his commendable performance in race 2 of the MX2 class, despite retiring in race 3 due to technical issues. “Noah and the entire team are performing admirably. As we continue testing various elements, we’re collectively striving to enhance our readiness for round 1 of the MX Nationals in Wonthaggi next month,” concluded Sladek.

The team will stay in Queensland for a week of testing, to ensure they are fully prepared for round 1 of the PRO MX Championship in Wonthaggi, Victoria next month.
