The Factory Honda Team delivered a stellar performance at Round 4 of the Australian Supercross Championship, securing six podium finishes, including two victories in the PRO SX1 and SX2 classes respectively. Held alongside the iconic Adelaide 500 Supercars, the event was a spectacle that captivated tens of thousands of fans across three days, with many of the 200,000+ attendees experiencing the intensity and skill of supercross for the first time. This groundbreaking collaboration brought newfound excitement and a fresh wave of fans to the sport.

In the SX1 class, the newly titled Quad Lock Honda riders Joey Savatgy and Dean Wilson proved unstoppable, claiming first and second overall. Savatgy’s exceptional performance, highlighted by setting the fastest lap times in four finals, solidified his position at the top of the championship standings with one round remaining.

“I had one bad race after getting caught up with Clout, but the extra point for the fastest lap worked in my favor. The track was super technical, which made it exciting for the fans but nerve-wracking for us riders. I’m happy to have extended my points lead, especially with the Lawrence brothers and Webb joining the competition in Melbourne,” said Savatgy.

Wilson, while clearly emotional about missing an opportunity to gain points on Savatgy, pushed through the weekend despite a knee injury sustained during practice.

“It’s not over, but I’ve made it harder on myself by not beating Joey here. I tweaked my knee on Friday, which swelled up, causing some pain, but Joey rode great. All I can do is give it everything in Melbourne and see what happens,” said Wilson.

Boost Mobile Honda’s Aaron Tanti faced challenges throughout the round, narrowly missing a podium finish after a late mistake in the final race. Tanti finished fifth overall and is now focused on redemption in Melbourne, his teammate Kyle Webster finished a creditable in first supercross race in over 11 months.

The SX2 class was a Honda sweep, with the team taking the top four positions and showcasing the dominance of the 2025 CRF250RWE. Polyflor Honda’s Shane McElrath claimed first, followed by teammate Brodie Connolly in second. SCT Logistics Honda’s Alex Larwood finished third, with Boost Mobile Honda’s Cole Thompson in fourth. Honda now holds the top three spots in the SX2 championship standings heading into the final round.

“These guys are fast,” McElrath said of his younger teammates Connolly and Larwood. “Racing them was fun—it was respectful but hard. They have bright futures, and I was impressed by their performance.”

In the SX3 class, Mongrel Boots Honda’s Jake Cannon battled through adversity to secure third place, closing the points gap to the championship leader to just eight. Despite frustration over missed opportunities, Cannon remains focused on the final round.

“My starts were way off, and I made life hard for myself. I qualified first but didn’t capitalise on it. The championship isn’t over, but I’ve made things tougher,” said Cannon.

The final round in Melbourne promises to deliver intense competition, with Honda riders in contention across all classes.
