Brodie Connolly, Dominates MX2 Championship, Secures Title Early!

In 2022, Brodie Connolly didn’t have a full-time ride in Australia, making his 3rd place finish in the Australian Motocross Championship during his first full season in 2023 impressive. More impressive, in just his second full season, Polyflor Honda’s Connolly dominated the championship, securing the title with one round still remaining. The 20-year-old New Zealander credits his success to the lessons he learned last year and the adjustments he made to avoid repeating past mistakes.

“Last year was a learning experience—I didn’t know how to eat or train properly, and I made a lot of errors. This year has been different. I moved in with the Townsend family, who provided the stability I needed to focus solely on racing. Ross Beaton has been a great trainer, and Yarrive and the team share the same goals I have,” Connolly explained.

Connolly’s dominance has been undeniable, winning 6 out of 7 rounds. His talent first caught the team’s attention at Red Bud, United States, in Oct 2022 when team director Yarrive Konsky watched him compete in the MX of Nations.

“He has a determination that you can’t teach. Even though he wasn’t in the main race, it was clear to me that he had something special. I’m proud of him and the team for working together to achieve this great result. I believe he has the potential to be a champion in America or Europe if given the chance,” said Konsky.

Brodie has also been chosen to represent New Zealand in the MX of Nations. While he’s excited about this opportunity, he’s also focused on the upcoming Supercross Championship.

“I’m pumped and proud to represent my country. It’s going to be a busy few months with MXGP in China, MXON, Australian Supercross, and possibly other international races. I’m just loving riding my Polyflor Honda CRF250R,” said Connolly.
