Penrite Honda Racing’s Brett Metcalfe will fight to the very last race in an effort to win his first Australian Supercross Championship. As one of Australia’s greatest riders, he wants this win, its one he has dreamt of since childhood.

“I always wanted to come home and win an Australian Motocross and Supercross Championship and this is as close as it has gotten so I will lay it all on the line,” Said Metcalfe

Brett Metcalfe has won 3 of the 8 finals in Australia and heads into the final round of the Championship with only 6 points separating himself and team-mate/points leader Justin Brayton.

“It really is as close as it will get for both of us. We are both mature riders who have raced a lot together throughout the world, particularly in America and we have a great deal of respect for one another. We will both line up and try to win and we will see what happens,” continued Metcalfe.

Brayton and Metcalfe have proven that age is not a barrier. Both riders are in their 30’s and are racing as well as they ever have, with Metcalfe believing experience and age are a great benefit.

“I think I am racing better than ever because of my experience. My preparation has evolved over the years and of course we would like to race without any injuries or adversities but this can be an un-realistic so I feel that’s why I am riding as well as I am. I have learnt that it is rarely a perfect situation for racers and you need to make the best of the situation you are in,” said Metcalfe.

The father of two is focused on finishing strong and looks forward to standing on the overall podium irrespective of position.

“I want to win, we all do, that’s why we race but I won’t let that define me. I will do my best for the team and my family and that’s what I teach my boys. As long as you give it your all and leave nothing on the table, you can hold your head high.” Finished Metcalfe.

Metcalfe holds a 19-point lead over third and will race for an overall podium finish in Sydney this weekend in the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship.
