Plus Fitness Director’s John Miller and John Fuller appreciate the physical and mental demands of motorsport, particularly the fitness level of elite Motocross and Supercross athletes.

The 2018 racing season marks Plus Fitness’s third season aligned with Honda Racing.

“This is our third year with Penrite Honda Racing and we respect the creditable efforts of their riders. Justin Brayton and Brett Metcalfe have been flawless in their endeavours to stand on the top step of the podium in this year’s Australian Supercross Championship,” said Miller.

Australia’s Brett Metcalfe believes you need to have the highest level of mental and physical fitness to be competitive in motorcycle racing.

“As a sport we have never truly received the recognition we deserve for the training we do. It takes a lot of work to be competitive. We ride and race with injuries, rarely are we 100%. We push to earn every point as they all count towards a Championship. We need to be prepared to do whatever it takes and we need to be mentally and physically fit,” said Metcalfe.

Supercross racing is intense, heart rates soar to 90-95% of their maximum and riders push their limits to be the best on track.

“On race day we are up at 6am, stretching, warming up and it’s a routine that happens every weekend. We are on track from midday and finish racing at 10pm. That’s a 16 hour day that requires a lot of energy. I don’t know too many sports that require your attention physically and mentally for 16 hours of the day.” Added back-to-back Australian Supercross Champion Justin Brayton.

Plus Fitness has over 180 gyms throughout Australia and New Zealand and support leading athletes in all sports.

“Fitness is a part of society; we all train for different reasons. We back our athletes because we believe they inspire others to chase their dreams and we are proud to contribute,” concluded Managing Director John Fuller.
